Given the animation especially is a pretty big step up compared to previous Haoliners shows, I actually have little to really complain about all things considered. I may have tempered expectations now having seen this episode, but there’s still enough interesting tangents present to at least support sticking around for a couple more episodes. To Gin no Guardian’s credit, however, this character/premise confusion will likely end once some explanations are forthcoming next week. At least Wanchoi is amusing in the sense he (she?) breaks from the usual sidekick conventionality. No idea why of course, but when “protect the world” and “return to the pink-haired stunner” are dropped in the same sentence you know it must be super serious business. As for the ever normal Suigen, apparently he cannot swim, likes games, and for some reason was battling a horde of undead outside a ziggurat mausoleum. How are they connected? Good question, that’s for next week. We have the ever pretty, stupidly rich, and incredibly smart Riku Rei ( Saito Yuka) who is everyone’s big sister, and apparently has a connection to our designated MC Riku Suigen ( Fukuyama Jun). Thirteen minutes (including OP and ED mind you) is not a lot of time for world building, let alone character introductions, and this episode stumbled because of it. What primarily deflated my hype here is Gin no Guardian’s weekly duration. Well, so long as Bloodivores remain firmly ensconced in the dark corner of “never think about that”. Yeah the source might be a manhua-and manhua have received some pretty lackluster adaptations so far-but I pride myself on adaptation open mindedness. As the Spring Preview helpfully indicated, this one was basically the season’s “trapped in another world” show, and I definitely have a thing for these types of shows. 「水銀、陸怜と出会う!」 ( Suigin, Riku Rei to deau!)Ĭonfession time, I was secretly looking forward to Gin no Guardian. Although golems do not normally have emotions,he undoubtedly developed genuine fatherly feelings for somali.OP: 「マモリツナグ」 ( Mamori Tsunagu) by Rin Akatsuki Golem comes off as cold to strangers at first due to his analytical and serious nature but he can show deep care for Somali and sometimes opens up about how he genuinely feels to others even if it's to be denied later.īefore meeting Somali he would only perform his job as a watchman taking care of the forest but never interfering with the natural process of things, it wasn't until Somali refused to leave his side that he found a sense of independence from his duty as a watchman and since then he's been learning about human emotions and how to understand them as well as his own. Across his face right in the middle is a stitch pattern as if his face had been sewn but when Golem is to activate his Eye the pattern opens to reveal a single eye in a vertical position that occupies most of the surface.įor his clothes Golem has a long sleeve shirt with straps on his shoulders and "buttons" at the front on each side along with a loincloth then a long hooded cape on top and finally some worn out brown boots His outer shell has a skeleton like appearance for his torso, arms and legs while a doll like appearance for the joins, his "face" has a similar appearance to a human skull but no traces of eyes or a nose and his mouth has seemingly no function whatsoever. Golem is a tall and robust humanoid creature with a machine like appearance, his outer shell is a dirty white color that has been worn out by time while his inner parts are black.
